Campus Visits and Interviews
- Map showing the two campuses of Harvard-Westlake.
Harvard-Westlake offers tours at both campuses and Family Visiting Days at the Middle School for prospective parents and students who are considering entering Harvard-Westlake for the upcoming academic year. To sign-up for specific dates, please complete the admission inquiry form. While families are welcome to inquire early, these programs are limited to current year applicants due to the volume of prospective families.
Tours are led by Student Ambassadors and run about 35-40 minutes. A Harvard-Westlake Parent Ambassador may also be available to answer questions from the parent perspective.
Four Saturday Family Visiting Days (FVD's) are offered throughout the fall and winter. All Family Visiting Days are hosted at the Middle School campus.
The FVD Program for prospective 9th grade students (and above) includes an interview with a faculty member as well as separate presentations for students and parents. Parents will learn about Harvard-Westlake through a slide presentation, curriculum overview, and student panel. They will have an opportunity to meet the faculty interviewer. Students will sit in on mini-classes and view the Harvard-Westlake slide show. Family Visiting Days for 9th graders will be held on December 12, 2009, and January 9, 2010. Reservations are required.
The FVD Program for prospective 7th grade students is similar in structure without the interview component. All applicants to 7th grade will be interviewed during the week at the Middle School. An Admission Office representative will call your family to schedule your interview once we receive the Application for Admission (to be completed by parents). Family Visiting Days for 7th graders will be held on November 7, 2009, and November 14, 2009. Reservations are required.
Families will have to reserve a Family Visiting Day through the Online Application system. Please call our office at 310-288-3200 if you have any questions about registering for Family Visiting Day.
All families of applicants to 9th grade and above are strongly encouraged to attend a Family Visiting Day; however, we can schedule a weekday tour and interview for families who cannot attend due to religious reasons or because they reside out of state. Please contact Ashley Ma at ama@hw.com to schedule a weekday tour and interview if you are unable to visit us during our established programs or if you reside outside of Los Angeles (requests must be made by January 4, 2010). We warmly welcome families of 7th grade applicants to the Family Visiting Days at the Middle School, but please note that this event is optional.
