For the fourth year in a row, the Harvard-Westlake Upper School has entered the Green Schools Alliance's Green Cup Challenge.
The Green Cup Challenge, which has been nicknamed "Lights Out HW 2013" on campus, challenges schools nationwide to demonstrate their ability to reduce electricity use by monitoring it over the course of one month (January 16-February 13, 2013). Last year, Harvard-Westlake was named the top school in the Southwest region.
“Lights Out HW 2013” is being promoted to students, faculty and staff as an opportunity to identify simple ways to save electricity, like turning off computers & printers when not in use and turning off lights in rooms that aren’t being used.
More than 100 schools are currently participating in the challenge. For more information, visit the program's website.
