Have you ever wanted to make your own films? This 2-week intensive film camp, designed especially for 7th-10th graders, offers a comprehensive approach to filmmaking with a focus on narrative. First, we’ll watch films to identify what makes a good story. Then we’ll come up with our own stories. The HW campus will be our backlot as we shoot scenes in various genres, which we’ll edit into short films complete with music and credits. Participants will work in small groups and everyone will get a chance to explore writing, production design, acting, shooting and editing. All participants will receive a DVD of their films. In past years, films produced in our program have been screened in film festivals and won national awards. The camp is led by Cheri Gaulke, HW Video Art teacher for 20 years, and HW filmmaking alumni. Note: Open to students from previous years. Projects will be new.
