These 10 sketches should be completed in about 10-15 seconds each, and should be done with a thick, fluid, black line.

A bold felt-tip pen or Sharpie marker (Fine tip, but not Extra Fine) should be used.

These three pages of the Sketchbook Abstraction homework assignment should be pasted into student sketchbooks before they are taken home.

Page 1 contains the instructions, and should be pasted on the first available right-hand (verso) page of the sketchbook. Page 2 should be pasted on the back of Page 1 and Page 3 should be pasted opposite Page 2. (This is usually done in the classroom).

Students will complete Page 2 with colored felt-tip makers and an Extra Fine Sharpie.

It is best to discuss the completed Page 2 in class before students begin Page 3.
