Article With an Author from a Magazine (Online or Hardcopy):

Info:

Author (Last name, First name). “Title of Article.” Title of Magazine. Issue date (Day Month Year): Page number(s).

Example:

Ruby, Michael. “Rethinking America’s Role.” US News & World Report. 5 December 1995: 104.

Article Without an Author from a Magazine (Online or Hardcopy):

Info:

“Title of Article.” Title of Magazine. Issue date (Day Month Year): Page number(s).

Example:

“A Democracy, But of Many Warts.” The Economist. 16 March 2002: 41-42.

Special Notes:

- Use the issue date on the cover of the magazine for the date, including ranges if necessary.
   Example: March - April 1997 or Spring/Summer 1997

- Put the page number or range of pages after the date separated by a colon and two spaces. You do not need to use the word “page.”

- Dates should be written with the “day” first, then month and year.
   Example: 16 March 2002:

- Names of months should not be abbreviated.

Article from a Newspaper (Online or Hardcopy):

Info:

Author (Last name, First name). “Title of Article.” Title of Newspaper. Issue date (Day Month Year), Edition: section and page.

Example:

Gurza, Agustin. “A Few Steps Closer To His Dream.” Los Angeles Times. 20 March 1999, Orange County Edition: B1.

Special Notes:

- Dates for newspapers are written with the “day” first, then the month and year.
   Example: 20 March 1999,


- If there is no edition given, change the comma to a colon and put the section (if there is a section) and page/s.
   Example: 20 March 1999: B1.

- Your page number or range of pages should include the letter of the section. You do not need to include the word “page.”
   Example: B1-3.
