Our Physical Education Department offers a character-shaping program focusing on the development of a positive self-image and providing physically, emotionally and intellectually challenging experiences. We instruct in team and individual sports, fitness and aquatics. Our program reflects the ever-changing stages of growth and development during middle school years to give students life-long benefits.

Departmental Objectives

A. To promote students' health relative to their physical, emotional, mental and social development.

B. To expose students to various active pursuits that can be fun and have lifetime value.

C. To provide balance to the rigorous academic expectations placed on our students and offer them a healthy outlet of their energy.

D. To develop physical and special skills required by the diversified program at each grade level.

E. To develop a working knowledge of the rules, strategies and etiquette of various activities.

F. To promote a better understanding and appreciation of the importance of fitness and regularly evaluate each student's progress.

G. To encourage cooperation, sportsmanship and leadership as a means toward social maturation.

H. To provide students with a basic knowledge of good health habits to enable them to make better decisions about their own well-being.

I. To provide opportunities for students to develop self-confidence and self-esteem through positive experiences.
