Physical Fitness

To encourage students to become aware of the importance of being fit and to identify their strengths and weaknesses, the physical education department evaluates students' fitness levels through seven different standardized tests. A passing score is 490 out of a possible 700. The evaluation consists of agility (shuttle run), upper body strength (pull-ups), speed (40 yd. dash), endurance (1 mile run), abdominal strength (modified sit-ups), flexibility (trunk flexion test), and explosive leg strength (vertical jump).

This evaluation is designed to help students become aware of their fitness level. Fitness evaluations are given once a semester and take approximately 4 days to complete. The test does not affect their grade.
