Assignments and due dates currently apply to both Ms. Miller's and Mr. LauGel's class sections.

Students need to bring
their cameras to class on
Day 1, Cycle 1.


(Sept. 1-2, 2004)

These should be equipped with fresh batteries,
a camera strap, and a lens cap.


Your instructor will supply film and paper.

Activity:
Label Cameras. Battery Check! Camera Count.

Topics: The Photogram. The beginnings of Photography. Light-sensitive paper. Metallic silver-halides and Henry Talbot Fox and "Photogenic Drawing."

Activity: Making Photograms in the Darkroom.

This quick introduction to the darkroom shows us how light affects photo-sensitive paper and film. Photograms were developed




Homework:
GRADED DEADLINE



On Cycle 1, DayC students must have their camera in class to load film or be engaged with instructor in resolving camera issues. Loaner cameras will be discussed and temporarily distributed for Roll #1 shooting assignment which will be started in class Sept 8-9.

We divide the class into "camera affinity groups." Group 1: Manual advance SLRs. Group 2: Automatic advance cameras. Group 3: Air cameras.


Topics: Examining the film cassette. Film ASA/ISO.
Manual/Auto film advance. Film frame counters (film length).


Activity: Rewinding your camera. Loading your camera. Setting ASA/ISO.
