Mixed Media 2


This semester course provides an opportunity for ninth grade students to "loosen up" in a studio art environment. This wet-media class focuses on the use of water color, tempera, and acrylic paints.


Major Projects


1. Color Theory: students create their own color booklet showing examples of graduated gray tones, complimentary color pairs, warm and cool colors, tints and shades, monochromatic and triad color schemes.




2. Still Life: using gray tones with a complimentary background.




3. Gestural Painting: of leaves
using complimentary colors.



 

4. Object Study: using 2 related canvases. The focus is on composition, using negative and positive space, gestural painting, and complimentary colors.



 

5. Expressive Portraits: on the surface of a found object.






6. Personal Mandala On Canvas: creating a personal "safe place" using acrylic paint and gemstones.
