Introduction to Clay

This one-semester course teaches students how to use basic hand building techniques which include slab, pinch, coil and folded pots. They will also learn some simple ceramic terminology. This includes learning information about what goes into making a glaze, and how kilns are fired.

When they have completed this course they are qualified to enroll in
Introduction to the Potter's Wheel
.

1. Slab Box : with unique lids.






2. Folded Dish:
using inlaid colored clay.





3. Carved Plate:
with glaze pattern.




4. Slab Coffee Mug: with stamped designs




5. Sculptural Dish: with melted glass.





6. Coiled Bowl




 

7. Ceramic House
