Child Abuse

1 in 3 girls and 1 in 6 boys are abused before age 18. Abusers are usually someone the child knows. Beyond Physical abuse are: emotional abuse, which is verbal; emotional neglect, when parents ignore children; and Physical neglect, when parents fail to provide for children.

If you are being abused, it is not your fault. You have rights, and keeping the secret will not help.

Violence/

Harassment/

Hate crimes

Hatred based on a person’s race, religion, sexual orientation or other differences is called racism or discrimination. Such hatred or violence towards another is wrong. Violence, name calling, threatening or harassing does not make differences go away. If you are being bothered, and can’t talk to the person, find a trusted adult or call one of these numbers. If you are a victim of a hate/racist crime, contact your local police department.
