Mathematics Department Standards

1. Students must come to class prepared with book, pencil, notebook, homework, calculator, and construction tools if applicable.

2. Students must come to tests prepared. If calculators are permitted, they must have their own calculators. No student may borrow a calculator from another student during a test.

3. Written homework assignments must include all relevant figures and work for full credit. Answers only are never sufficient for homework or on tests. (Scratch work done in the textbook will not be counted.)

4. Written work should be legible, grammatically correct, and logically presented.

5. Students must know the difference between exact and approximate answers and must indicate this difference on all written work.

6. All homework assignments will be due at the beginning of the class for which it was assigned. If an assignment is turned in at the end of the class period, it will be considered late. It is the student’s responsibility to check with the teacher concerning class policies about late homework. The student’s grade will be penalized for lateness.
