Calculator Policy

Harvard-Westlake Math Department Calculator Policy

Calculators are routinely used in math class, and every student is required to have one. Currently, students are to use only the TI-83 Plus graphing calculator.

During quizzes, tests, and exams, calculator use is subject to certain restrictions.
Students must

· Only use the calculator they bring to the exam.

· Assume responsibility for what is stored on that calculator.

· Store only programs approved by their teacher for that exam.

· Be certain that no program contains lists of text or formulas.

Not following any one of these guidelines is considered a violation of math department policy, as well as academic dishonesty. If a student does not follow the guidelines, the matter will be handled by the student's teacher, math department head, and dean. It will also be treated as an Honor Code violation, according to guidelines established by the Honor Board.
