October 18 was a warm sunny day and a very festive evening on the Coldwater Canyon campus, where several athletic events took place and the Homecoming Reunion Day reception was held.
Packed crowds were on campus all day. More than 200 alumni spanning class years from 1938 to the present, their guests, and current and retired faculty traveled from across the United States to attend the reception at the Feldman-Horn Gallery prior to the varsity football game.
Among the 200+ attendees were Carl Miller '38 and his fiancée, who will be tying the knot this weekend at Saint Saviour's Chapel.
Homecoming Reunion Day provided many opportunities for alumni to reconnect with each other and with their former teachers. A great time was had by all.
The evening concluded with the Wolverines beating St. Bernard 37 – 0 under the field lights at Ted Slavin Field. Earlier in the day, three other Harvard-Westlake teams beat their opponents on campus: boys' varsity water polo, girls' varsity volleyball, and girls' varsity field hockey. Go Wolverines!

Pat McCabe '74, head of the lower school at New Roads School in Santa Monica, was the inaugural speaker in the Alumni Speaker Series on Monday, September 22. Pat spoke to middle-school students about his decision to leave a 23-year career in sports marketing to move into a career in education and philanthropy.
The Alumni Speaker Series was conceived in 2007, "to introduce the Harvard-Westlake student body to the outstanding professional and charitable accomplishments of the school’s alumni through a regular speaker series. The series would include alumni from diverse occupations, highlighting individuals whose stories and experiences would challenge students to consider their own character and potential."
For background information on Pat McCabe, click here to read the story from the October 6, 2002 issue of the Los Angeles Times Magazine.
