Harvard-Westlake is divided into a middle school (grades 7, 8, and 9) and an upper school (grades 10, 11, and 12).  Good academic standing and a commitment to honor are essential for the continuance of one's studies and to promote the school's community of trust.

Technology and Skills, grade 7, one year
Public Speaking, grade 8, one semester
Human Development, grade 8, one semester
Campus Service (SQUID), grades 7-9
Community Service, grades 7-9
School Service, grades 8 and 9

Upper School
Full-Year Requirements
English, three years
Foreign Language, one language through level III or two years of Latin and two years of a modern language
History and Social Studies, two years, through eleventh grade
Mathematics, two years, through eleventh grade, three years recommended
Physical Education, five trimesters
Science, two years of laboratory sciences

Semester Requirements
Performing or Visual Arts, two semesters
Choices and Challenges, grade 10, one semester
Community Service, grades 10-12
School Internship, grades 10 and 11, one period per week for one semester
