Campus Visits and Interviews Harvard-Westlake offers parent coffees and family visiting days at the Middle School campus for prospective parents and students who are considering entering HW for the upcoming academic year. To receive specific dates and program information, please complete the application request form to receive an admission packet. (While families are welcome to inquire early and get on our mailing list, these programs are limited to current year applicants only due to the volume of prospective families.)
Parent Coffees are offered several times throughout the fall and winter. The program starts at 9:15 am and consists of a welcome and introduction to HW by the Director of Admission and a student panel Q & A session. Student-led tours of the Middle School are offered at the end of the program, and HW Parent Ambassadors will also be available to answer questions from the parent perspective.
Six Saturday Family Visiting Days are offered throughout the fall and winter, four on the Middle School campus for 7th grade applicants and two on the Upper School campus for 9th-11th grade applicants. The program includes an interview with a member of the faculty as well as separate presentations for students and parents. Parents will learn about HW through a slide presentation, curriculum overview, and student panel. They will have an opportunity to meet the faculty interviewer. Students will sit in on mini-classes and view the HW slide show. Families will have to submit the FVD card included in the admission packet to RSVP. Space is limited, and we cannot guarantee a spot if the card is received after January 4, 2008.
All families are strongly encouraged to attend a family visiting day; however, we can schedule a weekday tour and interview for families who cannot attend due to religious reasons or because they reside out of state. Please contact Michelle Hung '91 at mhung@hw.com to schedule a weekday tour and interview. (Requests must be made by January 4, 2008).
Campus Tours All families will have an opportunity to tour and visit one of our campuses during one of our six family visiting days and/or during a parent coffee. In addition, 7th grade families are welcome to set up a weekday tour of the Upper School campus, and 9th grade families are welcome to set up a weekday tour of the Middle School campus. To schedule a visit, please contact Michelle Hung '91.
All families are welcome to visit campus to attend any performance sponsored by the performing arts department or any sporting event hosted by our athletic teams.
