Harvard-Westlake’s Girls Swim Team Ties the Tologs!
Friday, April 18, 2008

On Thursday, the Wolverines were up for the challenge when they arrived at Loyola for the toughest meet of their season against the reigning Mission League Champs from Flintridge Sacred Heart. With positive vibes surrounding them, the Wolverines swam amazingly, managing to tie FSH 85-85 in the Varsity level. The Tologs had their Olympic trials qualifier in attendance for the big meet, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Wolverines.

The stands knew the meet was going to be a close one when the Wolverines barely won the first event of the afternoon, the 200 Medley Relay. The Wolverines achieved a season best automatic CIF qualifying time, and the Tologs were beat in the event for the first time in two years! The relay team of Maddy Sprung-Keyser, Cathryn Quinn, Allison Merz and Alex Edel were on fire.

Allison Merz won both the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly. Lesley Whitaker was the Varsity “Swimmer of the Meet” after amazing swims in her events. Alex Edel had solid swims and a very important win in the 100 Free.

The JV team lost a very close meet, with some great swims by Stephanie Ramos, Ashley Halkett, and “Swimmer of the Meet” Jelyca Ormond.

The Wolverines have their last home meet today against Notre Dame at Zanuck Swim Stadium.
