Girls Soccer Holds Tesoro to 0-0 Draw

The girls' soccer team opened pool play at the prestigious Mater Dei Premier Invitational with a hard fought 0-0 draw against Division I power Tesoro High School of Rancho Santa Margarita. Clara Jaques ('09) made 9 saves and extended her shutout streak to 6 games. Maddie Lenard ('09) led the way defensively and Haley Boysen ('10) had several good chances at goal and also appeared to be fouled in the penalty box but the referee waved play to continue.

Erin Landau ('11) and Brianna Nesbit ('12) both made outstanding Varsity debuts for the Wolverines, Brianna sailing a shot just wide of the post. The Wolverines remain undefeated but will face Division II CIF Champion Thousand Oaks Friday night in pool play and then Division I CIF, National and State Champion Long Beach Wilson Saturday afternoon. Thousand Oaks and Long Beach Wilson played to a 1-1 tie in the other Group D match up. The Wolverines are now 5-0-1 overall.
