Things First
In
order to create pages for the Harvard-Westlake site, you need permission
and you must adhere to certain rules and regulations. Please note
the following steps to creating your Web pages.
- Set
a meeting with Computer Services. You may have some great
ideas for your page or section, but setting aside some time to
discuss your plans with Computer
Services will prove helpful and could save you a lot of time
and trouble later.
- Request
a directory and server account. You will need permission and
certain information from Computer
Services before your pages can be placed on the Harvard-Westlake
server.
- Carefully
review all legal and policy guidelines. You must adhere
to all aspects of the Harvard-Westlake
Web policy in creating your site, including copyright
issues, use of any images of
non-HW minors or other identifiable persons and accessibility
to the disabled. These policies must be followed whether
your pages are on the Harvard-Westlake server or on another
server.
In short, these rules apply to any page anywhere on the Web that
implies a connection with Harvard-Westlake School.
- Make
use of the design and other resources in this section. You
should have a degree of creative freedom on your pages while still
ensuring that it is readily identifiable
as part of the Harvard-Westlake site and visitors can easily navigate
to any other section of the entire site.
- Create
your pages. In addition to the instructions, tips and resources
available in this section, we have provided links
to other sites that may prove helpful to you.
- Test
your pages. Just because it looks good on your computer does
not necessarily mean that others will see the same thing! After
you've uploaded your site, test it on another computer other than
the one you used to create the site. You may discover broken links
that are not apparent on your computer. Also, please check your
spelling carefully!
