Guidelines
The
Harvard-Westlake site was designed to be flexible enough to accomodate
a wide range of creative expression.
Key
to this flexibility is the use of a "family" system that
provides coherence to the entire site while providing ample opportunity
for creative expression for those who will add to the site. Each
of the major sections has its own lookexpressed through color
and imagesbut they all are immediately
identifiable as part of the Harvard-Westlake site.
There
are a number of considerations to take into account in designing
your page. This section provides guidelines that permit you to express
yourself while still maintaining the look and feel of the Harvard-Westlake
site. There is also a section of design
resourcesready-to-use graphics and templatesas well
as links to other Web sites to learn more
about creating Web pages.
Don't
forget: First things first. Check on how you
can add your pages to the site before beginning work.

You
are invited to contribute to the Harvard-Westlake site by developing
additional pages in any of the following ways:
Using
a template to create your pages. Templates
are available for you to use ina wide range of authoring environments.
These templates will provide you with the basic page
format to follow the exact look and feel of existing pages in
your section.

Separate design linked to other sections of the site. You
may choose to design your page using only the top navigation bar
and then create a different look for your page. In such a case,
we ask that you make your page 600 pixels wide, and utilize one
of the navigational templates for your
section so that visitors can easily go to other sections of
the site.
