Educational Benefits

At Harvard-Westlake, it’s all about the kids.

The Harvard-Westlake Middle School is among the nation’s best, offering challenging and rich academic, arts and athletic programs to students in grades 7-9.

Since the merger was announced in 1989, the campus has been keeping pace with our students’ interests. While this enthusiastic participation is cause for immense satisfaction, it put a strain on existing facilities, and outstripped the limited capacity of our fields, combined gymnasium/theater, library, classrooms and even our parking lots.

The Middle School Modernization Project ensures that future generations of Harvard-Westlake students have the best environment and facilities in which to learn, to express themselves and to grow as wonderful, talented and gifted young people.

  • Classrooms: The new classrooms are larger and better designed to accommodate the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s academic programs and student learning styles.

  • Performing Arts: The modernization includes a new, fully-outfitted performing arts auditorium, studio spaces for music and dance, a black-box theater, practice/rehearsal rooms for vocal and instrumental music, a technically advanced recording laboratory and a fully-equipped scene shop.

  • Athletics: The new, reconfigured field will provide greater game and practice space for a variety of sports. Now that the new auditorium is has been constructed as part of the academic building, the Marshall Center is used exclusively for athletics.

  • Library: Along with thousands of books and other reference materials, the new library features state-of-the-art technology dedicated to research and projects, as well as significant teaching space to assist young learners with their understanding, knowledge and use of a library.

  • Administration Space: The Admission Office and other school administration offices are located in a new wing next to the campus entrance.
