Christopher Moore, Director of the Theater Program at Harvard-Westlake Upper School, and a faculty of close to thirty master teachers, instructors and directors will work with no more than thirty student actors selected by audition and/or interview in this intensive program training and developing the serious young actor. Not, for the first-time actor, preference will be given to those having some previous background theater experience and training. This is an intensive training course for the young actor, not a performance oriented program. Previous master teachers and instructors have included Geoff Sobelle (The Pig Iron Theater Company in Philadelphia) teaching Movement and Neutral Mask. John Achorn, a master Commedia teacher teaching Commedia Skills, Gates McFadden teaching a Clown Workshop, Bruce A. Young teaching Stage Combat, Anthony Brynes, teaching Suzuki Movement and Viewpoints, Film and TV director David Shaughnessy teaching Acting For The Camera, Daniel Faltus and Peter Van Norden teaching Acting With A Song, Stephen Rockwell (from A Noise Within Theater Co.) Ted Walch, and Rees Pugh teaching Shakespeare Text Analysis and Performance, April Webster (CSA Casting Director) teaching a Casting/Audition Workshop. Each student actor participates in all of the scheduled workshops (approximately twenty in all) including but not limited to the ones listed above as well as Dance, Comedy Improvisation, Dialects, Greek Choral, Yoga for Actors, Scene Study and Meisnner Technique. The program includes two evening field trips to see local theater productions and culminates in an evening of Staged Scene Work and an afternoon showcase highlighting all the workshop classes, exercises, and disciplines.
This three-week Summer Intensive Acting Workshop is only offered every other summer and can only be taken once by any student actor involved.
Cost: $1450 includes tuition, daily breakfasts and craft service throughout the day, theater tickets for the two ensemble trips, all supplies, props…
