Harvard-Westlake School (“we” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Privacy Statement applies to the Harvard-Westlake School iHW app and governs data collection and usage. By using iHW, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.
Collection of your Personal Information
We collect personally identifiable information such as your email address, notes, check in/out times, and location at the time of check in/out. If you opt-in to the automatic check in/out feature, iHW will automatically check you in/out when it is detected that you have crossed the campus perimeter (geofence). This will occur when the app is open, closed, or not in use. Your location is only used and stored the moment you enter and exit campus.
We may also collect information about your mobile hardware and IP address for internal purposes including, administering our services, diagnosing problems, generating statistics and trends and improving the quality of our products and services.
Use of your Personal Information
We collect and use your username and password to authenticate and integrate with Harvard-Westlake School systems in order to deliver the services you have requested and provide access to your schedule, ID card, the ability to check in/out and any other future services that will be beneficial to you.
We do not sell, rent, lease, or provide any of your data to third parties. We collect and integrate your information from the Hub (Canvas) via their API. We are not responsible for the privacy statements or content on the Hub.
Security of your Personal Information
We secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. We secure the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. All data is handled securely and transmitted using HTTPS for encryption.
Changes to this Statement
We will occasionally update this Privacy Statement to reflect school and community feedback. We encourage you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
