Baseball

The Wolverine Baseball Camp will take place July 16 -19  at O'Malley Family Field. Travel baseball opportunities are available throughout the summer for middle school players (Grades 7-8). Basketball (Boys)

Summer Basketball consists of daily practices, summer league games and tournaments on the weekend. Lower levels will begin June 11th- July 17th.

Equestrian

Students with a desire to compete in hunter/jumper/equitation and/or dressage at any level are invited to ride for Harvard-Westlake. There are no tryouts for this team. Requirements include access to a horse anda willingness to partake in four IEL shows per year.

Fencing

Come learn the basics of competitive fencing, an international and Olympic sport. This class will promote fun while campers learn the fundamental skills of fencing. Fencing will develop balance, concentration, coordination, tactical skills, teamwork, discipline and self-esteem through this specific art form. Participants will learn proper footwork, execution of fencing actions and recreational bouting. All equipment will be provided, including equipment for electronic scoring.

Field Hockey

Football

Summer weight training for new and returning high school players (grades 9-12) starts June 10th at the Upper School from 10:00-11:30, Monday-Friday. Summer weight training and football workouts will begin June 24 th at the Upper School from 10:00-12:30, Monday – Friday.  Fall practice will begin with our Team Camp on Monday, August 5.

 Middle school players (grades 7-8) are encouraged to attend the Wolverine Football Camp June 17th – 21st at the Upper School campus. Middle school practice will begin in August.  If you have any questions, contact Michael Burnett at   mburnett@hw.com or (310) 804-5364.

Golf (Boys)

Boys planning to golf on the JV or Varsity teams are encouraged to play throughout the summer. There are junior programs, tournaments, and lessons available throughout Southern California. Please contact Coach Tony Kewal at tkewal@hw.com if you have any questions

Golf (Girls)

Girls' interested in playing golf are encouraged to work on their game during the summer through golf camps, personal instruction and junior tournaments.  Our program not only stresses skill development, but also the importance of mental mastery and decision making on the course. We offer strength and conditioning throughout the year.

The first tryout round for the 2019 season is Tuesday July 30.  We have a 6 tryout rounds and the top players are selected by adding the 3 best rounds.  Practice sessions are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with a few Saturday play dates.    For a detailed Schedule, venues, start times and any questions please contact Marge Chamberlain at:   mchamberlain@hw.com   805-404-1662

Lacrosse

Harvard-Westlake will be offering a summer camp for 5-12th graders from June 27-30. All current lacrosse players should be active in summer recreational lacrosse or other Harvard-Westlake sports. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Coach Erik Krum at ekrum@hw.com

Soccer (Boys)

All Harvard-Westlake prospects, incoming and returning middle school soccer players are encouraged to attend one or more Wolverine Soccer summer camp sessions, June 10-14 . Club soccer opportunities are available throughout the summer for the middle school and high school players (Grades 7-11). Soccer (Girls)

Girls soccer players are encouraged to attend the Wolverine Soccer summer camp session.The summer camp will run from July 16-19. Softball

Incoming and returning softball players are required to train with the team twice per week in the summer in addition to their club teams. The team will lift in the weight room for an hour and then have offensive training at The Upper School. Please contact Softball Program Head Melanie WIlliams (mwilliams@hw.com) for more details.

There will be an informational team meeting on September 5, at 3:00 PM at the Upper School. Training class starts on September 21.All softball players are required to attend the softball training class in the fall and winter trimesters.

Swimming & Diving

Swimmers planning to swim on the Middle School, JV or Varsity teams in 2018-2019 are encouraged to swim throughout the summer.  The Wolverine Swim Camp is encouraged for any middle school or JV swimmers. The camps will take place on June 18th through June 22nd and June 25th through June 29th at the Copses Family Pool on the HW Upper School campus.  Varsity swimmers should be enrolled with a USA Swimming club program.  LA Swim Club is HW’s home club and you can contact Jason Schwarz at jschwarz@hw.com.  In addition, there are clubs throughout Southern California that are also good options. Again, contact Coach Jason Schwarz at  jschwarz@hw.com for recommendations.  Fall training classes for high school students begin when school resumes. The middle school swim season will start the first week of school.

Tennis (Boys)

Student athletes interested in playing team tennis are encouraged to train, develop and compete in various camps, clinics and tournaments over the summer.

We strongly encourage that a mixture of new incoming tennis players and the current middle school and junior varsity tennis players join the last 2 Wolverine tennis camps offered which will be run by Bo Hardt and his coaching staff.

Tennis (Girls)

Try-outs for ALL the 9th-12th grade players interested in Girls Tennis will start week of Aug. 19th at Los Angeles Valley College.

Track & Field

Summer workouts (grades 9-12) will be held throughout the summer. Incoming 7th graders and returning 8th graders are encouraged to attend the Track and Field, Speed  and Distance camps. Volleyball (Boys)

Incoming and returning 7th, 8th and 9th graders interested in playing volleyball next spring are encouraged to play beach volleyball over the summer and are encouraged to attend college summer camps and/or play club.  There are a number of good clubs in the area. The second half of club season is just starting up soon. Feel free to contact Coach Matt Kuelpman for more information.  Training for high school students (grades 9-12) begins in late November/early December. The middle school season begins in February. Volleyball (Girls)

Incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th graders are encouraged to attend the Wolverine Volleyball camp session to be held July 22-26 9am – 2pm. The team tryouts for rising Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors is June 12th and 13th from 9am-11:30am in Taper gym located on the upper school campus.  Cuts will be made after day one.  We will evaluate any new students to HW on August 5th if they cannot make it to the June tryouts (please contact Coach Blanchard if you are not able to make the June 12th tryouts). All varsity players will be expected at mandatory practices beginning July 29th and continuing through the start of school. All frosh and JV players will be expected at practice on August 5th.
