How to Apply for Financial Aid

Families of new applicants: Complete steps 1 - 4. You may also opt to send a letter about family circumstances at this time (step 4).

Step 1: Indicate that you are applying for financial aid

On the Harvard-Westlake online admission application, indicate that you are applying for financial aid. The application fee is waived for families applying for financial aid.

You can begin your online financial aid application starting November 1, 2016, by following steps 2 through 5.

Step 2: Complete the online Parent's Financial Statement (PFS)

Harvard-Westlake uses School and Student Services (SSS) to handle a major portion of the computation in our financial aid process. SSS is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Based on the information you provide, SSS calculates an estimated amount that your family can contribute to educational expenses.

  • Starting on November 1, 2016, go to http://sss.nais.org and click on the prompt to begin your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). New families will create a user name and password which will allow you to complete the PFS over more than one session. Therefore, allowing you time to gather the required information and to ensure accuracy. If you applied for financial aid last year, simply log in to the PFS online as a returning family, using the email address and password you set up last year. All material submitted to SSS is secure.
  • New student applications must be submitted no later than January 13, 2017Current student applications must be submitted no later than December 9, 2016. Be sure to indicate that Harvard-Westlake (SSS code 3736) should receive a copy of the results.
  • NOTE: The "PFS Workbook and Instruction Booklet" is available in English and in Spanish

Step 3: Submit your federal taxes and W-2 forms
