Westflix’s 20th Anniversary Festival will take place on March 17 and 18, 2023, and includes a screening of the best films by high school students in California, as well as opportunities for student filmmakers to get feedback from industry professionals.
Our Westflix screening and awards event will take place on the evening of Friday March 17, 2023 at the historic Million Dollar Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Fancy “red carpet” attire is encouraged.

Friday, March 17 Festival Schedule:
- 6:30 p.m.
Doors Open
- 6:30 p.m. – 7:25 p.m.
- Pre-Show Red Carpet and Jazz Explorers performance
- 7:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.
Screening of Films, with Guest Speaker Mindy Kaling
- 9:45 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Post-Show Awards Ceremony
- 10 p.m. – Midnight
Filmmakers’ Afterparty at Grand Central Market (Invite-only)
Please arrive early with your digital ticket and ID as this event is very popular. Leave yourself enough time for parking, check-in procedures, and securing your seats.
Notice: Certain films in our festival deal with more mature subject matter, including violence, trauma, and death. The intended audience for these films is high school age and above. Viewer discretion is advised.
Parking Information:
Public paid parking lots are located near the theater. Ridesharing and public transportation are encouraged.
Check-In Information:
There will be a strict NO WALK-IN policy. And No Ins and Outs. All tickets must be reserved in advance. Westflix digital ticket and ID (student or government ID) required for entry. Tickets are non transferable, name on ticket must match name on ID. If you have a special case with your name/ID, please reach out to bcook@hw.com or rlimerick@hw.com.

Please do not come if you are sick. Masks are encouraged but not required.
The theater has two floors, the first floor is wheelchair accessible. Mens' and Womens' bathrooms are on the second floor (no elevator,) an accessible All-Gender bathroom is available on the ground floor in the adjacent lobby where our red carpet will take place.
Theater concessions are limited, popcorn and water will be available. Otherwise, plan to eat at the Grand Central Market right next door before heading to the theater.
